In trenchless engineering, horizontal directional drills (HDD) are vital equipment for underground pipeline laying. To ensure smooth construction, the following key preparations must be completed before starting work:
1. Construction Site Detection
Use professional detection instruments to accurately locate the direction, burial depth, and nature of original underground pipelines, mark them clearly, and verify the information with municipal archives and on-site manual surveys. This prevents damage to existing pipelines during construction.
2. Hydraulic System Inspection
Check that the hydraulic oil tank level is not lower than 1/2 of the oil gauge. Fill sufficient lubricating oil or grease according to the lubrication requirements of the drill to ensure stable operation of the hydraulic system.
3. Diesel Engine Maintenance and Check
Regularly maintain the diesel engine by replacing the three filters (air, fuel, oil) and engine oil. Add antifreeze to the water radiator and replace it periodically. Before starting, verify that diesel, antifreeze, engine oil, and battery electrolyte are sufficient, and confirm the throttle is at idle to ensure stable power supply.
4. System Operation Component Check
Ensure all hydraulic system valve handles, electronic control switches, and mud pump handles are in the neutral position before starting to prevent misoperations and potential accidents.
5. Guidance System Confirmation
Verify that the guidance system operates normally, the instrument and probe batteries are fully charged, and positioning/directional data (depth, apex angle, and tool face angle) are accurate to ensure construction precision.
Completing these preparations will fully unleash the HDD's performance, enabling efficient execution of trenchless engineering projects.
